Default Another Card Grading Question...

At some point, I am going to have to start sending some of my rarer cards off to be graded. Case in point, my 1969 Topps #567 Pirates Rookies with no black outline around the title. (I collect these cards and the normal versions with the black outline, too, for personal reasons, but that's a story for another day.) If you look at the pop reports, hardly any of these cards have been graded, so here's the specific information I'm looking for help with.

Please look at the scan. If you compare that card to the other 1969 rookie card shown, you will notice that the colors are extremely light. It looks like the card was left out in the sun, but (very important to note) it was not. I have 1 or 2 others that look exactly the same, and in-hand you know it came out of the pack that way. My best guess would be one or multiple colors of ink were low when the print was made.

Let me stress this as well. I am in no way talking about perceived monetary value or desirability. All things being equal, if someone had a choice between two graded versions of this card, they would undoubtedly opt for the one with the deeper, richer colors. I know that. So please ignore that area of inquiry altogether.

I simply want to know if the 'faded' look of the card would impact its grade. I'm not talking about any other issues. For instance, just assume it was perfectly centered and had 4 sharp corners. Would the grade drop because of the color, even though that's exactly how Topps printed it? Would they assign it a PD qualifier (and/or drop it 2 number grades) or something else?? I almost feel that if I had this card graded, I would need to include a note saying, "I hope you realize this card hasn't faded. Topps printed it that way." Plus, say I sent in 2 faded examples and two different graders examined them. Is it conceivable that their opinions could greatly differ (again, assuming the cards were perfect in every other aspect) and the cards could receive completely different number grades??

I would love to hear if anyone has experience in this area, or knows any actual specifics about this type of situation. Thank you!!

Check out my bucket(s). Virtually everything is available for trade:

I was such a dangerous hitter I even got intentional walks during batting practice.

My guess, and it's an uneducated one at that, is it/they will grade lower (by how much?) just like uncentered cards do, which, like in your case, are factory issues and not wear and tear issues.

But, on the flip side, and depending on what you already noticed in the POP report in regards to these cards, maybe they will be viewed as rare/scarce and be graded like any other card or graded with a special note, like black back for example, on the label?

I am no help on grading since I avoid it if at all possible, but here is my version and the color difference is not too great. It seems to me that any grade or even an authentic grade on such rarity would
be a good thing. Your card looks great
